Cainiao announces the establishment of a 24-hour and 72-hour global logistics circle

Recently, at the 2018 Global Smart Logistics Summit held in Hangzhou, Cainiao Network Technology Co., Ltd. announced that it will establish world-class logistics hubs in multiple parts of the world in the future, with five major cities including Hangzhou in China, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Moscow in Russia, and Liege in Belgium being given priority consideration.

Cainiao revealed that the first five global logistics hub cities under consideration each have their own advantages. For example, Hangzhou is the first cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone city in China; Kuala Lumpur is the first overseas city to establish an eWorld Trade Platform (eWTP). Here, Cainiao collaborates with Malaysian customs to reduce the average customs clearance time from 1 day to 3 hours; Dubai connects the three continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa, making it one of the most important transit centers in the world.

Wan Lin, President of Cainiao Network, stated that unlike general logistics bases, world-class logistics hubs will leverage their geographical and technological advantages. It is reported that Cainiao will adopt methods such as co construction with partners or leasing operations in these places to promote hub construction.

On the basis of planning to open the first batch of five global hubs, we will also open more global nodes in the future to promote a more intelligent and efficient logistics network, moving from the current 5-day delivery in key cities to global 72 hour delivery, "said Wan Lin.

Coincidentally, shortly after this conference, Cainiao has already started promoting work. On the 6th of this month, Cainiao Network, Yuantong Express, and Air China jointly announced that they will jointly launch the construction of a world-class logistics hub project at Hong Kong International Airport, the busiest cargo airport in the world. The project will be completed and put into use in 2023, and will become a globally advanced digital logistics center capable of handling tens of millions of cross-border e-commerce packages annually.

Data shows that since its establishment 5 years ago, Cainiao Network has established a smart logistics network covering 224 countries and regions worldwide. According to data from Cainiao, this smart logistics network has currently compressed the average cross-border logistics time from China to major countries from 70 days to less than 10 days.

In addition to the logistics hub, Cainiao also revealed its plans for the "Future Park" at the logistics summit. Gu Xuemei, a novice CTO, said that the "future park" of the logistics industry will be a large-scale integrated application of cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things, edge computing and artificial intelligence.

Gu Xuemei provides an example of how intelligent cameras can identify high-risk situations such as theft and smoking among employees in real-time and provide early warnings. At the same time, all vehicles and personnel entering the park through the Internet of Things will achieve digital guidance, and every manhole cover will become intelligent
